Educational Opportunities at True Cut Ranch

Farm Experiences for All Kinds of Schools:

With nearly 150 lush acres in Claremont, NC, True Cut Ranch has much to offer school groups:

  • Plenty of free parking

  • Restroom, covered picnic area, farm store

  • Animal experiences

  • Garden experiences

One field trip package includes a farmer—led walking tour with animal interaction (feeding treats to pigs, sheep, or cows), access to the covered picnic area before and after your tour, and a snack and drink selection for each child.

  • Tours on Mondays to Thursdays will have exclusive access to the picnic area; on Fridays it will be based on the size of your group.

  • Length of tour is usually 60 to 90 minutes, but can be adjusted based on your group’s preferences.

  • Students can take home a free coloring sheet.

  • Chaperones are free but will buy their own snacks and drinks.

  • Snack will be one per child, with current selection from the farm store including:

    • Meat stick

    • GMO—free pretzel sticks

    • Local apple (in season)

    • Organic lollipop

  • Drink will be one per child, with current selection from the farm store including:

    • Local milk or chocolate milk pint

    • Bottled water

  • Field trip package, as described above, is $6 per child

Expand your field trip, for an additional fee, with:

  • Shepherd experience (moving the sheep from one pasture to another with Fred) (30 to 60 minutes)

  • Farm—to—table cooking experience, where we gather vegetables and herbs to prepare a lunch together (2+ hours)

  • Moving the cows (30 to 60 minutes)

  • Chicken processing (3 hours)

  • Pumpkin painting (seasonal)

  • Tallow lip balm DIY workshop (15 minutes in groups of up to 20; $120 minimum includes up to 20 lip balm tubes; each additional is $6)

  • Native plant identification and foraging (30 to 90 minutes)

  • Make, take, and bake sourdough focaccia (1 to 2 hours)

Each Friday from 8/7 to 11/20 we host a homeschool and preschool friendly “FARM SCHOOL” event from 2 to 3pm. Buy a family pass, good for all 16 Fridays, for just $39. You can instead pay $5 per person per visit.

Each week we’ll have at least one animal experience and learn about one plant. All ages are welcome. Buy your pass online now or in our farm store when it is open.
